Last Arrow Games, a new games development studio, today announced its official launch in Gateshead, joining the Pneuma Games Group—a division of the Pneuma Group – as their latest major venture.

The Last Arrow’s leadership team bring decades of executive industry experience and innovative thinking to the studio.

Driven by the mission to reignite the joy of gaming, the studio believes great games don’t require massive budgets or endless customisation; they just need heart, creativity, and a deep respect for what makes a game memorable.

“We are here to make beautiful games that people will love,” said Ron Ashtiani, CEO of Last Arrow Games. “We are assembling a team of specialists with extensive genre-specific experience who are passionate about delivering innovative gameplay, exceptional execution and an immersive player experience to our audience.”

The studio’s immediate goal is the expansion of its core development team, positioning Last Arrow to deliver bold and innovative next-generation game design.

The leadership of Last Arrow is built on a proven track record of creating critically acclaimed and groundbreaking titles in the games and entertainment industries.

Ron Ashtiani is a renowned artist, creative director, and entrepreneur with over 27 years in the entertainment industry. He founded Atomhawk, a visual design studio that grew into a globally recognised brand working with Marvel Pictures, Warner Bros, Microsoft, Sony and more. With creative contributions on blockbusters like Guardians of the Galaxy and over 30 video games.

He is joined by Owen O’Brien, a seasoned Studio Director with over 28 years of industry experience from publishing to development. Owen has experience developing new IP from scratch, most notably serving as the Executive Producer for Mirror’s Edge. He has also led teams on high-profile franchises like Harry Potter as well as managing co-development with AAA partners on titles such as Call of Duty.

Last Arrow’s Design Director will be Andrew Willans, with almost 20 years’ experience crafting games in the AAA space including – Driver San Francisco, Watch_Dogs, The Crew, as well as smaller more experimental games like Deathsprint 66 and the Bafta nominated Grow Home.

Providing Technical leadership is Chris McClure. Chris brings over 25 years of deep technical expertise and a consistent delivery of robust, production-ready solutions across complex game projects.

“The industry is facing increased pressures through layoffs and a generally subdued appetite for private investment,” commented Owen O’Brien, Studio Head of Last Arrow Games, “however Pneuma Games Group are bucking that trend and with their support we’re able to build a new studio with a specialised team who are already working on the studio’s first original IP”.

The studio is actively seeking applicants for roles, particularly those with demonstrable expertise in Unreal Engine 5 development. Interested candidates are encouraged to visit the Last Arrow Games website for more information.
