The UK space industry is growing fast and is fast becoming an industry of the future, alongside AI and Life Sciences. The space economy is being transformed right from the heart of Newcastle, a core city in the UK. Through a public, industry and academic collaboration, Newcastle will soon to be home to a North East Space Skills and Technology Centre – A £50m facility developed by Northumbria University, with investment from the UK Space Agency and industry giant Lockheed Martin.

The global space economy has seen significant investment across European Nations, offering a huge opportunity for innovation, investment and growth. According to a report ‘The Space Economy: Act Now or Lose Out’ the UK should act now to secure its place at the forefront of the new global race for space.

The North East Space Skills and Technology Centre has ranked 6th in the fDi Intelligence, inaugural Investment Impact Awards (IIA) as a location with one of the most transformative potential in locations across Europe.

What steps are the UK making towards this race? How will we make the most of this opportunity? What can we all learn from UK and global cities and public and private sector partnerships?

A global opportunity. Who can win the race?
