The National Innovation Centre for Data (NICD) was created in 2019 with £30 million of funding from the government and Newcastle University. Based in the state-of-the-art Newcastle Helix science district, their mission is to transfer data skills to the UK workforce. NICD’s team of PhD and Masters-level data scientists work to ensure that organisations across the country are equipped to reap the benefits of the global data-driven revolution.

The amount of data available to organisations is growing at an exponential rate, offering opportunities for everything from improving efficiency to developing new products and services. Leading market intelligence firm IDC predicts there could be 175 zettabytes (175 trillion gigabytes) of data in the world by 2025. To put that into context, even if you downloaded 175ZB onto today’s largest hard drive, you would need 12.5 billion drives. The ability to manage all this data will be critical to the UK’s economic success and NICD is working to ensure that organisations are ready.

Whether your organisation is a public sector body, a small business or a major corporate, the challenge of handling all the data now available can be daunting. NICD’s experts can help, sitting alongside your team as they complete a data project that brings an immediate return on investment. And unlike normal consultancies, they’ll leave them with skills to carry out the next data project themselves, ensuring that you glean the insights you need to retain the capability in-house.

Your Business. Your City. Your Future.
