The £150 million ORE Catapult’s National Renewable Energy Centre in Blyth, Northumberland houses world-leading testing and validation facilities. These specialise in testing wind, wave and tidal energy technology, including the world’s largest open-access facilities for testing both wind turbine blades and powertrains and the only UK centre for testing of offshore cables.
These test, validation and applied research services work to drive down the costs of offshore renewable energy and accelerate commercialisation.
