The innovative £16m project in Wooler, Northumberland will open to the public on 25 March 2023. The regeneration project sits four miles from Yeavering where a 1950s discovery unveiled one of Britain’s most important archaeological sites. The statement buildings have been designed by renowned Northumberland architect, Richard Elphick, echoing the great hall aesthetics of 7th-century Northumbrian Kings, whilst combining the latest design practices, technologies and sustainability. The exhibition spaces and interpretative design were produced by the internationally acclaimed agency, Studio MB. A team of northeast built environment firms including Brims, JCP, Redfox and Todd Milburn, in collaboration with a group of highly skilled craftsmen, have expertly brought the world-class designs to life to deliver the breathtaking vision of co-founders Alan and Eileen Ferguson.

Ad Gefrin will generate up to 50 full-time jobs, bringing employment to local people and new skilled workers to the area. The project has been funded privately by the Ferguson family with public funding contributed for the capital construction from Borderlands Inclusive Growth Deal (£4m); NE LEP SEIF (£1m); and Northumberland County Council (£600k).
