The Future of Android and Tech in the North East: 25th January

Android is the world’s most popular mobile platform. To date, it is responsible for powering hundreds of millions of mobile devices in more than 190 countries.

The app economy was responsible for around 330,000 jobs in the UK in 2017 and the Android eco-system was responsible for 242,000 of these, contributing to the 1.2 billion pounds that video games brings to the UK’s revenue.

In partnership with TIGA, Google is proud to present the first of its Android Update talks in the tech hub of Newcastle. Featuring a presentation from Google engineer Matt Henderson, Matt will discuss the importance of Android to the digital economy, where Android is heading in the future and what opportunities it presents to developers be they new to the industry or heads of studios.

Hosted at Campus North and attended by Newcastle Central MP Chi Onwurah the evening will also be a celebration of the 20,000 digital jobs within the city featuring an opening speech by Chi plus insight from local game developer Andreas Firnigl (Nosebleed Interactive) The event is free and will be followed by networking drinks.
