Catherine Walker, director of inward investment at Invest Newcastle, commented: “This latest report from Tech Nation demonstrates the strength of Newcastle’s technology and digital sectors. Working alongside Newcastle City Council and stakeholders, Newcastle has an ongoing sector strategy that includes the growth of inward investment targeting the technology and digital sectors. We have a focus on talent pipeline and attraction, as well as business developments, such as Newcastle Helix and co-working spaces like Barclays Eagle Labs Newcastle and 71 Grey Street.”

Jenny Hartley, head of tech sector planning at Newcastle City Council, added: “We have some brilliant businesses operating in the tech and digital sectors and have recently welcomed Silicon headquartered Caffeine TV to Hoults Yard, as well as the likes of mobile technology firm Mkodo and digital agency Luminous.”

Catherine Walker continued “The last couple of weeks, with the region hosting the Thinking Digital Conference and Newcastle Startup Week, show the collaborative nature of our tech sector. We have strong cluster support in the city through Digital Union, Dynamo, Newcastle Tech Trust and the soon to open North East Futures UTC. There’s plenty else to look forward to – we’ve got Dynamo Conference and the Great Exhibition of the North, both of which will celebrate the pioneering and innovative spirit of the North.”
