The Biosphere has been shortlisted for a ‘Best Sector Support’ award in the OBN Awards 2019. This is a broad ranging award that recognises outstanding levels of support or service to companies in the life sciences sector.
OBN (UK) Ltd, is a membership organisation that supports the life science sector. These awards celebrate innovation and achievement in the life sciences industry, from outstanding scientific innovation within biotech, medtech, digital, synthetic biology, to the companies that support the industry and the fundraisers that make it happen.
Cllr Ged Bell, Cabinet member for Employment and Investment at Newcastle City Council said: “This lab facility was a significant investment for the local economy, marking a clear commitment from the city to support the sector. It’s not just about the building, it is the fact that is surrounded by a community of innovators on Newcastle Helix and the entire eco-system of support that makes it so special. So much has been achieved since 2015, and we are delighted to be shortlisted for an award alongside government bodies, sector organisations business parks and legal firms who all help to shape the future of the life science sector.”
The judging panel will include John Harris, CEO OBN, Bill Fleming, Chief Financial Officer, Ultromics, David Browning, Chief Executive Officer, Oxford Cancer Biomarkers and Michel de Baar, Executive Director, BD&L Europe, MSD.
The ceremony will be attended at the impressive Examination Schools at the University of Oxford on the 7th November where more than 250 life science leaders will come together to celebrate and see the overall winners will be announced.
