Coronado Research, a pioneering provider of data-driven solutions for the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical devices sectors, has launched a new office in Newcastle. This expansion is a key step in the company’s mission to transform the drug development process and bring transformative treatments to patients faster.
The purpose-led company unites artificial intelligence and machine learning experts with clinicians and researchers, aiming to accelerate the availability of innovative treatments both locally and globally. Central to Coronado’s approach is its “Humans-in-the-Loop” methodology; a data-driven and technology-enabled framework designed to streamline and optimize the journey from drug discovery to regulatory approval.
Located at The Stamp Exchange, just a short distance from Newcastle Central Station, the new office underscores Coronado’s commitment to tapping into regional talent. The company plans to hire up to 10 highly skilled Market Access and Health Economics professionals in the first year with significant expansion expected over the next five years to support its broader suite of services.
Andrew MacGarvey, CEO at Coronado Research, commented: “I am delighted to be opening an office in Newcastle, a major milestone for us. The location is ideal for us given the quality of the universities and the concentration of life sciences activity in the region. Our Newcastle team will bring a unique approach to Market Access and help Coronado deliver against its mission to join the dots between the approval and commercial sectors – ultimately delivering more treatments to more patients faster.”
Coronado’s decision to establish a presence in Newcastle was bolstered by the support of Invest Newcastle, part of NGI’s inward investment team. The city was chosen over several other contenders due to the proximity and prestige of its world-class higher education institutions and its thriving health and life sciences ecosystem.
Newcastle City Council’s Cabinet Member for Economy, Jobs, and Skills, Cllr Dan Greenhough, welcomed the news: “We are thrilled to welcome Coronado Research to Newcastle. Their decision to invest here highlights the strength of our talented workforce, cutting-edge research institutions, and dynamic health and life sciences sector. On behalf of the city, we wish Coronado every success and look forward to supporting their growth.”
As Coronado Research integrates into Newcastle’s vibrant cluster of businesses advancing therapeutics, diagnostics, and clinical innovation, Invest Newcastle will continue to provide support, helping the company expand its team and establish valuable local partnerships.
The Newcastle office is poised to play a pivotal role in advancing Coronado’s mission to deliver cutting-edge solutions that address the evolving needs of clinical practitioners and patients in the UK and beyond enhancing access to new medicines for patients all around the world.
Hamish Rutherford, CEO of floe, added: “We’re delighted to welcome Coronado Research to The Stamp Exchange. At Floe, our mission is to connect scaling businesses across the North East with the resources and environments they need to thrive. The Stamp Exchange, as the North East Chamber of Commerce’s Newcastle hub, offers a unique opportunity to connect with a vast network of businesses, fostering collaboration and innovation that drives regional growth. We’re excited to support Coronado’s journey as they settle into the region and scale their impactful work.”
