Northumbria University

Northumbria University is based in Newcastle in the North-East of England and has more than 30,000 students studying in the city with others studying at London and Amsterdam campuses. It was named Times Higher (THE) University of the Year 2022 marking the University’s remarkable transformation to become the UK’s first research-intensive modern university. The University’s strategy over the last decade has been to embed quality research at the centre of everything that the University does, alongside a clear social mobility mission, and alignment to business and the demands of the regional and local economy.

The University has repositioned itself over the last decade and is now ranked 23rd in the UK for research power (in the Research Excellence Framework 2021).

We have more than 7,500 international students and are in the top 25 in the UK of the number of full-time UK graduates who go into skilled jobs.  The University has a significant presence in the city of Newcastle. We are proud to be an anchor institution and of our wider role as a driver of social mobility, economic development and reputation for the city and region.
