The North East real estate industry gathered last week (Friday 27 October) to discuss plans for their presence at major real estate conferences MIPIM and UKREiiF.
Invest Newcastle, part of NewcastleGateshead Initiative (NGI), has a long history of leading large-scale delegations to MIPIM in Cannes and more recently to UKREiiF in Leeds, bringing together both the public and private sector. Their shared ambitions play a crucial role in attracting investment to the region and MIPIM provides a unique opportunity for the North East to showcase key investment and development opportunities on a global stage.
Taking place on 12-15 March 2024, MIPIM brings together all of the key players in the global real estate industry, offers access to an unrivalled pipeline of development projects and sources of capital. Newcastle’s presence amongst other UK cities and regions, including London, Manchester, Liverpool and Belfast, comes with the goal of creating a more sustainable, healthier and liveable place for all.
With the aim of accelerating and unlocking long-term, inclusive and transformational investment, UKREiiF was hugely successful for the region this year connecting businesses, investors, local authorities and government departments. Invest Newcastle will again host a programme of events in their pavilion in partnership with their sponsors and city partners in 2024.
Jennifer Hartley, Director of Invest Newcastle, NGI, said: “These events are an opportunity to meet and engage with some of the real estate world’s leading influencers and decision-makers. It’s incredibly important that Newcastle and the wider region is among other key global cities at MIPIM and UKREiiF and showcasing what makes us the ideal place to invest in.
“In the past we’ve welcomed government ministers, city ambassadors and institutional investors to our stand, who have a keen interest in the opportunities here. MIPIM and UKREiiF provide us with a captive audience and have historically led to some really big investment wins for the area.
“We’ve got ambitions to make 2024 our biggest and best year yet and we encourage businesses that are passionate about the region and being part of its story of transformation to get in touch and join us.”
Avison Young and Pradera Lateral are among the first private sector companies to sponsor the Invest Newcastle delegation and will work closely with the team on shaping an exciting programme for both events.
Gordon Hewling, Regional Managing Director, Avison Young, said: “Avison Young is delighted to continue its support of the Invest Newcastle delegation at MIPIM 2024.
“We are witnessing the transition from devolution of political powers to the evolution of local growth – encouraging new industries, new uses for old spaces and new neighbourhoods. Leadership and partnerships between regions, towns and cities, and between the public and private sector, has never been more important.
“Working with Invest Newcastle and its partners at MIPIM and beyond aligns perfectly with our public sector reputation and regional connections, allowing us to focus on what drives growth, the schemes shaping investment opportunities and how we can work together to build a prosperous and sustainable future for the region.”
Philip Lunn, Managing Director of Pradera Lateral, the asset managers of Eldon Square, said: “We are proud to be supporting the Invest Newcastle delegation and collaborating with city partners at MIPIM to present the full breadth of development opportunities across the city.
“As the asset managers of Eldon Square, we are incredibly excited about ongoing developments within the city centre that will provide a more dynamic retail and hospitality offer for residents and visitors.
“We look forward to sharing more about our plans on the biggest stage at MIPIM in 2024.”
